About the MLA

The members of the Muslim Lawyers Association (MLA) being aware of our role in building a community that is free from racial, ethnic, religious and economic discrimination.

The MLA is a professional, apolitical and a non-profit making body which is committed towards creating a community free of injustices as expounded by the Holy Quraan and the practice (Sunnah) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The MLA was duly constituted and came into effect on 16th November 2007. The launch of the MLA was honoured with the presence of Justice of Appeal, Mohamed Navsa, Justice Mohamed Jajbhay and Justice Haleema Salduker. The guest speakers were Justice of Appeal Mohamed Navsa and Deputy Minister of Education, Anver Surtey (who subsequently held the Portfolio of Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development)
